Description
You wouldn’t believe it if you didn’t see it with your own eyes. Ol’ Gazza is up the creek, out on the tinny, line snapped, last lure goodbye, left his tackle box in the ute and the sun’s belting down like it’s got a grudge.
But does he panic? Nah. He cracks a fresh Great Northern, takes a sip, and reckons, “Bugger it, this’ll do.” Hooks the can straight onto the line, gives it a flick . Now here is where it gets wild, not five minutes later the reel’s screaming like a stuck pig in Bob Katter’s backyard.
Up comes the biggest bloody fish the creek’s ever seen, still trying to skull the tin. The lads in the next boat are losing it, beers spraying everywhere, Gazza’s chest out like he’s just won State of Origin single-handed.
Since that day, they don’t call him Gazza no-more. They call him The Bait King, the bloke who proved Great Northern isn’t just for drinking. It’s for catching legends.
